Many were shocked and saddened on Tuesday with the news of the passing of 32-year-old Wes Fletcher, Jr. For those who may not know, Wes was involved in a vehicle accident last week and sustained severe injuries.
Hundreds of posts flooded Facebook as the news spread remembering Wes and offering prayers of comfort for the Fletcher family. Wes was a father and a husband, but he was widely known as a good friend.
It is amazing how a person’s life can affect so many people in so many ways. As word of Wes’ accident spread through the community last week, multiple efforts were set into motion to help ease the financial burden on the family. Several raffles were organized, blood drives held, concerts planned, and donation buckets placed which collected several thousand dollars in a short amount of time.
This is a testament to the people in Brownwood. It is something that you don’t find living in a big city. A community as a whole rallying to help someone in need. Compassion, caring, and people putting their friend and neighbor before themselves. This is the kind of person Wes was as well, and I think he would be proud of what his community did for him and his family.
Many of these fundraisers will move forward as planned to help the financial burden on the family.
Services for Wes are pending through Blaylock Funeral Home, but you can expect a tremendous turnout wherever the funeral is held.
Continue to pray for the Fletcher family in their time of need. Wes will be greatly missed.
We were blessed to have known him.
