EasterCrossThis Sunday is Easter!  So as you’re picking out your best dress for Sunday’s service, inviting family and making plans, don’t forget about Good Samaritan Ministries’ annual Easter Buffet held at the Beadel Dining Hall on the Howard Payne University campus.  Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 2 p.m.

Attend your Easter services, then bring the whole family out to HPU and join GSM for an amazing lunch provided by Don Green and the Sodexo staff. The meal costs $10 for adults ages 13 and older. Children ages five to 12 are $5 and children under five eat free!

This year, credit and debit cards will also be accepted:  MasterCard, Visa, Discover Card and American Express.

“You could go eat elsewhere after church service for the same amount of money or you can come join us for an all-you-can-eat buffet to satisfy the entire family,” said Angelia Bostick, Executive Director of Good Samaritan Ministries. “The Easter Buffet is such a wonderful tradition in the community and we are always excited to see everyone who comes out.”

On the menu this year:  carved baked ham, chicken fried steak, rotisserie herbed chicken, baked tilapia, chicken nuggets, oven roasted red potatoes, fresh whipped potatoes, rice pilaf, shrimp Alfredo pasta, green bean casserole, buttered corn, glazed carrots, Prince William vegetable blend, assorted dinner rolls, assorted salads and desserts.

Last year 886 diners came out for lunch and just under $9,300 was raised.

“Of course, we would always like to continue to grow and increase over what we did the year before, but it’s not always about numbers,” Bostick said. “It’s about family, friends and celebration. It’s about coming together with a purpose on a very special day.”

All of the money raised at the Easter Buffet will go toward the annual Feinstein Challenge, a hunger awareness campaign during the months of March and April.

There were a few hand-painted bowls left over from last week’s Empty Bowls Project, and those bowls will be available for purchase at the Easter Buffet.

“So if you were unable to attend our Empty Bowls Project, come prepared to browse and make a donation for a bowl of your choice,” said Bostick.

And, as always, the staff, board members and volunteers of GSM will be on hand to serve, greet, bus tables and just be a friendly face.
