Brownwood News – The Brownwood Area Community Garden is now registering students for Vacation Garden School, which will be at the Garden during the week of June 19-23rd. The program is for kids ages 8-12, and runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. The $45 registration fee includes lunches, a workbook, and a t-shirt.
Garden Coordinator Daniel Graham says “the program is for kids who like nature and being outdoors. We teach an expanded definition of community that includes all of the plants and animals, as well as the people, in our particular place.”
The Garden’s shade arbor is a cool outdoor classroom, even in summer, and there are plenty of breaks, as well as arts and crafts, to add more fun to the mix. Class size is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
