The Central Texas Community Band will present its spring concert tonight, Tuesday, May 3, at Howard Payne University’s Mims Auditorium. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
The band is comprised of area musicians and meets on Monday evenings each spring for rehearsal. Corey Ash, associate professor of music and director of bands at HPU, directs the band, but many area band directors will also conduct during the concert.
“The Central Texas Community Band is comprised of members of all ages from area communities such as Bangs, Early, Brownwood, May, Santa Anna, Coleman, Goldthwaite and Brady,” said Ash. “The band also includes students from area high schools along with their directors.”
Compositions include “Rolling Thunder March” as well as selections from “The Music Man” and “American River Songs.”
“This concert is a fantastic community collaboration that gives many individuals from the area the opportunity to be a part of the arts,” said Ash. “I hope everyone who can attend will come and support this amazing concert made possible by our area community members.”
