On Saturday November 19th, The Brownwood Municipal Police Association held a BBQ brisket plate fundraiser for Detective Kim Holland and her oldest daughter Alexis Cantu. Doctors discovered Holland’s daughter has a cyst pushing on her brain causing serious medical complications. The fundraiser hoped to help offset some of the medical bills association with treatment and surgery for Alexis, as well as traveling to the Metroplex area on a regular basis.
“On behalf of the association and all the citizens and everyone that helped including the Sheriff’s office, we want to present you this check,” said officer Fred Bastardo during a brief gathering at the Brownwood Law Enforcement Center on Tuesday, November 22nd. The community was able to raise $8,200 to give to the detective and her daughter.
“It’s amazing,” said Detective Holland as the check was presented. “I just want to say thank you to everyone that helped. We appreciate it.”
Members of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office as well as Brown County Law Enforcement wives and concerned members of the community assisted with the fundraiser which took place in the former Bank of America parking lot, adjacent to Trans Texas Tire.
During the check presentation, Holland’s daughter Alexis was also given a gift of a stuffed lion with maroon and white balloons.
