commissionercourtarticlepicOnce again, discussion of a burn ban was on the agenda of County Commissioners Court; however, commissioners took no action Monday and residents of Brown County can still burn trash or brush piles for at least another week.  Commissioners each discussed the conditions of their precincts before it was decided to not reinstate the burn ban.

Joel Kelton, Precinct 2 Commissioner stated that he had talked to the May fire department and that they would be fine without a burn ban, seeing that there is a possibility of rain in the upcoming week. Commissioners Bob Clark, Precinct 1, and Larry Traweek, Precinct 4, also agreed that their precincts would be fine without the burn ban.

Richard Gist, Precinct 3, stated that he would be in favor of a burn ban, but with the majority of commissioners against the ban, it was decided no burn ban would be issued this week.

Commissioners will readdress the burn ban at their meeting next Monday.
