commissionercourtarticlepicA specially called meeting of the Brown County Commissioners’ Court was held Monday to discuss the purchase of radio equipment from Homeland Security Grant funds; however after deciding to take no action on this matter, commissioners approved other items including an employee change at Brown County Jail and a few tax resale deeds.

Becky Caffey, Brown County Jail Administrator, received approval of new hire Shelton Cogdill as a replacement jailer for Sgt. Todd Moody, who recently resigned. Cogdill will receive the base salary for the jailer position. Caffey also reported the jail population to be 157 as of Monday morning, 120 males and 27 females.

Tax resale deeds were approved for three properties as follows:

Elsa Garza bid $1000 on Lot 12, Block 12, Hillcrest Addition. Taxes and fees owed on the property consisted of $668 in fees and $1980.19 in back taxes, for a total of $2858.19.

Elsa Garza bid $1500 on the southwest 25 feet of lot 2, and the northeast 25 feet of Lot 3, Block 13, Hillcrest Addition.

Perry Lynn Hutton and Pamela Juanice Hutton bid $1500 on Lots 244 and 245, Harbor point Subdivision, Section 2. Taxes and fees owed on the property consisted of $428 in fees and $1147.94 in taxes for a total of $1845.94.
