Update: 1:00 PM:  Identities of the deceased and injured at the Thursday morning fireworks-related explosion in Comanche have been released by officials.

According to BigCountryHomePage.com, Eddie Parker suffered minor injuries from the explosion.  Rex Plumlee and a another person who has not yet been named were critically injured in the explosion.  One of the two was flown to a hospital in Fort Worth for treatment, though authorities did not specify which.

Comanche chiropractor, Dr. Russell C. Reynolds, was killed in the explosion.  All four men involved are members of the local Kiwanis Club who annually put on the show, which is one of the largest fireworks displays in Texas.

The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and the State Fire Marshal’s office will be investigating the accident according to authorities on scene.

Original Story: A Comanche County hospital employee confirmed reports that one person was killed instantly about 8:50 a.m. Thursday morning after a load of commercial fireworks exploded near the Comanche High School football stadium.

The explosion occurred while the fireworks were being set up for Friday night’s display. Four other people were transported to the hospital in Comanche.

According to involved sources in Comanche, the fireworks show has been cancelled for tomorrow night.
