A two car accident occurred in the 1400 block of Belle Plain on Tuesday, shortly before 1:00pm.
Emergency responders arrived to find that a light green Ford Fusion and a gray Jeep Cherokee had collided blocking the roadway.
Witnesses reported that the Fusion turned onto Belle Plain from Lakeside Drive, into the outside lane, where the Cherokee was traveling. According to the driver of the Cherokee, she was forced over the curb and struck the street light, which was knocked down by the impact. The speed limit in that area is 40mph; however, the speed of the impact is unknown.
No serious injuries were reported, but the occupants of the Fusion were taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for evaluation while the occupants of the Cherokee were uninjured but shaken up.
Both cars had damage to their front right quarter panels. The Cherokee also lost its passenger side mirror and some other front end parts but was still drivable. The Fusion was towed due to its occupants being transported.
