Brown County Sheriff’s investigators arrested four college students during a traffic stop near Blanket Wednesday who are believed to have been there on business, to sell marijuana according to BSCO officials.
The vehicle, a 2000 BMW, was stopped for a traffic violation near the intersection of U.S. Highway 67/377 and FM 1467 by BCSO Investigators James Stroope and Carlyle Gover Sheriff’s reports state.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Morgan Barrett, 19, of Joshua; Garrett Dominguez, 21, of Stephenville; Mollie Leck, 19, of Joshua; and Luke Sotkovski, 20, of Stephenville. Most of the suspects attend Tarleton State University with one enrolled at Hill College, according to officials.
After the traffic stop, Stroope asked the driver if there were any illegal substances in the vehicle, and investigators noted in the report that the driver became nervous as he began talking to officers.
According to the report, the driver admitted to there being marijuana in the car and retrieved a jar containing marijuana, but disregarded the officer’s command to place the jar on the patrol car’s hood. The driver began to curse about the marijuana and when officers tried to take possession of the jar, the driver ran the report states. He was caught by Stroope after a foot chase.
The suspects made comments indicating they had come to Blanket to sell the marijuana the report states. One suspect admitted to hiding the marijuana as they were being stopped according to the report.
According to the report, one suspect attends Hill College and the other three are Tarleton State University students.
Barrett, Domingues, Leck and Sotkovski were all arrested and each charged with Delivery of Marijuana greater than ¼ oz less than 5 lbs. Dominguez received an additional charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence. Sotkovski also received an additional charge for Evading Arrest/Detention.
All four bonded out of the Brown County Jail as of Thursday evening according to officials.

Saturday, May 7
*12:33am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1600 block of Good Shepherd regarding a citizens’ dispute. According to the report, communications advised officers that 25 people were fighting and that one male had a firearm. When officers arrived, one male subject fled the scene and was found a short time later hiding the report states. The subject was arrested for Evading Arrest. An active report was filed for Assault with Deadly Weapon.
Monday, May 9
*7:45am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1700 block of 7th Street regarding found property. During the investigation of this call, it was revealed that several vehicles were burglarized during the night and this property was evidence to those crimes the report states.
*11:00am-A complainant spoke to an officer at BPD regarding debit/credit card abuse. According to the report, the complainant stated that her child support debit card had been used without her permission. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*1:13pm-City of Brownwood Animal Control officer found a motor vehicle title in the roadway at the intersection of 4th Street and Avenue H. The title was placed at BPD for safe keeping.
*1:40pm-Brownwood Police were called to a hit and run in the 1600 block of Good Shepherd. Complainant stated that the vehicle was struck while it was parked in the parking lot of her residence overnight.
*2:18pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 800 Rogan Street, Brownwood Intermediate School. School officials reported that a 6th grade student had stolen $160, which belonged to Brownwood ISD, from a teacher’s filing cabinet. The school did wish to pursue charges and the student was arrested, processed and taken to the Juvenile Probation Office.
*2:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 200 block of Fisk regarding theft. A complainant stated that a ring had been stolen and named possible suspects to the crime.
*3:56pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Memorial Drive, the Veteran’s Clinic, where a male was reported to be disorderly. The male left the scene prior to officers’ arrival; however was located and issued a criminal trespass warning for the property.
*5:00pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant stated that her 1999 white Ford Taurus had been stolen and identified a suspect.
*8:59pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Austin Avenue, Coggin Park, regarding a stolen cell phone and iPod Touch. The cell phone was located during the investigation. No suspect information was available.
Tuesday, May 10
*1:30pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Melwood regarding theft of services. An officer spoke to a complainant who stated that four individuals had walked out of the bar without paying their $32.00 tab. One suspect was known and identified.
*8:51pm-Brownwood police responded to the 3600 block of 3rd Street regarding two males and a female who appeared to be breaking into a residence. Investigation led to the citation of one of the males for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Wednesday, May 11
*2:06am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2200 block of Durham regarding an unwanted person. As officers arrived, a vehicle matching the description given of the subject’s vehicle was seen leaving the residence. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Danessa Kay Gomez was detained for investigation and determined to be intoxicated, police reports state. Gomez was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
*2:50am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a report of disorderly conduct at 2601 Crockett Drive, Brownwood Regional Medical Center, where a man was reported to be destroying hospital property. The male, later identified as 21-year-old Daniel Joseph Taylor was located and arrested after an investigation, charged with Criminal Mischief.
*8:45am-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a burglary of a residence in the 1500 block of Magnolia. The burglary was between the hours of 12:00am and 3:35am May 11th.
*9:59am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2300 block of Magnolia regarding found property. The caller turned over a wallet containing identification cards of a previous resident of the apartment. The owner of the wallet was not able to be contacted through information in the wallet and it was taken to BPD for safekeeping.
*10:53am-Brownwood Police issued a Criminal Trespass Warning per the request of a homeowner in the 2800 block of Southgate regarding an unwanted person.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence on CR 615 regarding a burglary of a habitation. The complainant stated that someone had stolen two propane tanks from his travel trailer and replaced them with empty tanks and that he was missing a heavy duty extension cord that was lying in his front yard. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
