An arctic cold front will arrive on Monday bringing the coldest temperatures so far this season. As this airmass enters the area Monday afternoon, temperatures will fall into the 30s and north winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph. This will result in wind chill values Monday night and early Tuesday in the teens and into the single digits early Wednesday morning. This cold air is expected to remain entrenched over west central Texas through Wednesday with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens and lower 20s. A warming trend is expected during the latter part of the week.
The National Weather Service is not anticipating any significant winter precipitation across west central Texas next week. However, a period or two of very light snow or flurries will be possible Monday night with little or no accumulation expected.
The National Weather Service encourages everyone across west central Texas to prepare now for the possibility of an extended period of very cold temperatures. Protect exposed outdoor water pipes. Make sure outside pets and livestock have water, and make sure they will have shelter from the cold.
