A strong cold front will continue to move across West Central Texas through this evening with strong north winds bringing much colder conditions to the area.

Much cooler conditions are expected on Thursday with highs around 50, combined with strong north winds producing chill values as low as the 30s. By sunrise Saturday morning, the coldest conditions so far this autumn will be possible as temperatures drop into the low to mid 30s. These colder conditions will again be most likely in low lying areas such as river valleys and near lakeshores.

There remains a great deal of uncertainty with just how cold temperatures will get, but people with cold sensitive plants and animals are encouraged to stay informed about the latest weather forecasts as we head through the remainder of the week.

Along with the colder conditions, there remains a chance of rain across much of West Central Texas tonight and Thursday. The best rain chances will be across the northeast Big Country, north and east of Abilene. Rain totals will not be as significant as they were a few weeks ago, with those areas that see rain picking up totals mainly between one tenth and one quarter of an inch.
