Clinton E. Laws, 85, of Coleman died Wednesday, August 18, 2016 at the Olin E. Teague Veterans’ Medical Center in Temple.  Funeral service with military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Posey officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Clinton Eugene Laws was born March 20, 1931 in Coleman to Dewitt Clinton and Annie Martha Welty Laws.  He grew up and attended school in Coleman.  He served in the United States Army during World War II.  On July 24, 1952, he married Orphey Faries in Coleman.  He worked as an electrician and also worked for the City of Coleman at the Water Filtration Plant for 11 years.  After Clinton retired, he enjoyed fishing and traveling.  He never met a stranger and would start conversations with anyone.  He was a member of Concho Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Orphey Laws of Coleman; three children, Clinton Laws of Coleman, Vikki Wristen and husband, Lin, of Early, Nikki Guzy of Coleman; one sister, Alyene Trewitt of Coleman; eight grandchildren, Glen Donham and wife Kristen, Melody Butts and husband, J.C., David Laws and wife, Bethany, Melissa McCarty and husband, Adonis, Michael Donham and wife, Monica, Jesse Laws, Stephen Donham, Cindy Carpenter and husband, Dustin; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Clinton was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Annie Laws.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at the funeral home.
