FergusonCliffordFuneral services for Clifford James Ferguson, 78, of Brownwood, will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, January 15, at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Brownwood. Interment will follow at 3:30pm in Elmwood Cemetery in Abilene. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, January 14 at the funeral home.  Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Clifford Ferguson.

Mr. Ferguson passed away on Monday, January 10, 2010 at his home in Brownwood.  Clifford James Ferguson was born on July 26, 1932, in Durant, Oklahoma, a son of William Chester Ferguson and Naomi Davis Ferguson. He married Ramona Varsivas in Oklahoma, and they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in a ceremony at the New Life Assembly of God in Brownwood .

He loved to work with wood and enjoyed anything to do with arts and crafts. His favorite pastime was spent fishing with his grandchildren. He had worked for the Burlington Northern Railway and had spent 2 years with the Texas State Highway Deptartment in Abilene before having to take an early medical retirement in 1981.

He is survived by two sons, Wendell Ferguson and wife Katy of Brownwood and Barry Ferguson of Abilene; brother, Walter Ferguson of San Springs Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Nichols Ferguson of Brownwood, Emily Miller and husband Jeff of Brownwood, Andrew Ferguson of Brownwood, Dalanna Ferguson of Brownwood, and Turner Barrett of Brownwood. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Jaxon Miller of Brownwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ramona Ferguson, and a brother, Dub Ferguson.
