Cleo Ruth Chadwick, age 86, of May passed away Tuesday January 28, 2014, in Brownwood. Graveside services will be held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, at 2:00pm, February 1, 2014. Davis-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Chadwick.
Cleo Ruth Garnett Chadwick was born on May 23, 1927, to John and Beulah Garnett in Lynn County, TX. She married Howard “Shorty” Chadwick on August 25, 1946. Ruth and Shorty resided in Ft. Stockton before making the move to Brownwood in 1979. Ruth was a member of the May Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering and was active in many different organizations including: the North Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Department Sparkettes, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. Ruth was a homemaker for most of her life but did work at the local 4-H center for a number of years. She was a lifelong fishing enthusiast and enjoyed fishing with Shorty, but Ruth’s biggest passion was for bingo. She played as often as she could and was thrilled when she won, which was quite often. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend and she will be dearly missed.Mrs. Chadwick was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard “Shorty” Chadwick; her parents, John and Beulah Garnett; and her grandson, Thomas Henry.
Mrs. Chadwick is survived by her son, Ron Chadwick; 2 daughters, Betty Henry and Vicki Haney; her brother, J.E. Garnett and wife Gracie; her sister, Annie Belle Tucker; 6 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
