Clemuel Parks Gober was born on September 28, 1927 in San Saba County to Emmett and Effie Gober, He passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 in Brownwood, Texas at a local nursing home. Services for Clem will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church with Rick Justice officiating under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Burial will follow in the Rocky Creek Cemetery. Clemuel, better known as just plain Clem, attended elementary school at Holt, Texas. He received a High School diploma from Richland Springs High School after serving time in the United States Navy during World War II. In the Navy, he was stationed in San Diego, California and Seattle, Washington where studied aviation mechanics. Perhaps this led to his long career in mechanics in the automotive field. He was honorable discharged from the Navy in 1946 and returned to Texas working with his father in the family store and on the family farm, eventually moving to San Antonio to work for W. W. Auto Parts, the beginning of a life selling and repairing automobiles.
He eventually became involved only in the automotive aftermarket. Some of the companies in this field employing Clem were: Gates Automotive, Perry Shankle, Terry Automotive, Exchange Parts, John Carter and Associates, Maremont Marketing and Bear Equipment. In 1978 Clem bought and managed Tubbs Auto Parts in Monahans, Texas. The store was renamed Clem Auto.
Clem was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lieutenant Colonel Lowman Gober, sister Charolette Voncille Kolaja and brother-in-law David Nehr.
He is survived by a brother Delman Gober and wife Teri, sisters Pat Nehr, Sharron and husband Dr. Roy Alston, sister-in-law Barbara Gober and Anita Brown.
Clem is also survived by his wife Bonnie Jean, son Barry Parks Gober and wife Debbie, son Bradley Gene Gober. Grandaughters are Shayna Jean and husband Marvin Warren, Brittany Jean and husband Calvin Beatty, Brooke Loraine and husband Wade West, and grandsons: Robert Amos and Jason Norton and wife Teri. He has four great granddaughters: Ashleigh Ashworth, Hayleigh Beatty, Rosalie and Delilah Jean West and one great grandson: David Bradley Beatty.
Clem loved his God, his family, and his country. He will be greatly missed.
