MichaelClaudeJrFuneral services for Claude M. Michael, Jr. (Junior) of May, Texas will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the May First Baptist Church in May, Texas with Chaplain David Williams officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the May Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.  Junior passed away peacefully Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age 93, in a local nursing home.

Junior was born on March 4, 1923 to Claude M. Michael, Sr. and Rosa Ada Welch Michael in May, Texas.  After attending school in May, Junior served in the United States Coast Guard from July 28, 1942 – March 15, 1946 during WW II.   While in the service he learned various trades which he used daily throughout the remainder of his life.

On August 14, 1948 he married the love of his life Juanita Bruton in Coleman, Texas.  Their union lasted 66 years, 10 months and 4 days when Juanita passed away July 4, 2015. Together they built a good life and raised two children, Robert and Brenda. He was Precinct 2 road foreman for 22 years from which he retired on January 6, 1986.  After his retirement he worked for the public doing heavy equipment work for another 26 years, along with farming and ranching.   He was a very loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.  His grandchildren were the light of his life.  Mr. Michael was a member of the First Baptist Church in May and was a lifetime resident of this area.

Survivors include one son Robert Harms of Longview, Texas; one daughter Brenda Michael Tubbs and husband Kenneth of May; eight grandchildren Michael Tubbs, Mark Tubbs, Shannon Davis and husband Robert, Roy Tubbs and wife Jillian, Traci Harms Bolton, Keisha Harms Marsolan and husband Jay, Stephen Harms and wife Jenna, and Jarred Harms; Eight great grandchildren Khrysta Whetstone and husband James, Zachary Davis, Taylor Beane, Ethan Beane, Kalli Beck, Korban Tubbs, Kayla Tubbs, Kyra Tubbs, Kinsley Tubbs, Kinsley Harms.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother George Michael, sister Lorene Bush, grandson Brock Harms and two nephews G.H. Michael and Samuel Bush.
