IMG_5485Demolition of the structure known as the “old Boy Scout Building” began early this week with the removal of contents & preliminary work, but the City of Brownwood crews hit the building full force today with sledge hammers, saws, and heavy equipment.

The old Boy Scout building is being torn down due to being in poor condition and not being in use.

The location at 600 E. Adams is also the home of the American Red Cross which was connected to the old Boy Scout building via a breezeway.  The Red Cross part of the building will remain in tact.

Organizers of the Brownwood Reunion Celebration event expressed excitement recently at their weekly meeting due to the buildings demise as this will allow more room for them to expand the food court area of the event.

See a few photos from the building’s demo today in Brownwood.
