The City of Brownwood is getting set to hire the new executive director of the Brownwood Economic Development Corporation, which will go before the City Council on Tuesday, June 9th for a vote.
According to BEDC Executive Director Emily Crawford, Guy Andrews of Odessa was selected for the position. Andrews most recently was the Executive Director of Communications and Organizational Development with Saulsbury Industries, an energy company in Odessa. Prior to that, he was the Director of Economic Development for the Odessa Chamber of Commerce for three and a half years. During that time, Mr. Andrews worked with industrial, commercial, retail, and residential developers and companies. Highlights of his time with the Chamber include selling 30 tracts of land in the Industrial Park, creating new marketing pieces for internal and external communications, and building a database of prospects ·and resources, which he continues to maintain.
Andrews also served as the Community Development Director for the City of Conroe for six years where he led an initiative to make Conroe a “developer friendly” city through city planning, ordinance review and streamlined permitting.
Prior to his career in community and economic development, Andrews had a career with AT&T in various management positions including external affairs, HR, and finance.His expected start date will be June 22nd if approved by City Council Tuesday.
Andrews will replace current BEDC Executive Director Emily Crawford who was recently named Brownwood’s new city manager to follow Bobby Rountree. Rountree will retire on June 23rd.
