The City of Brownwood said goodbye to Brownwood Regional Airport manager Sharlette Bain on Tuesday, June 28th with a reception after the city council meeting.

After six years as airport manager in Brownwood, Bain is taking a position at the Cleburne Regional Airport.    She is moving both for professional and personal reasons, career opportunities at a growing airport and becoming recently engaged to her fiancée from the Fort Worth area.

Cleburne is one of the suburbs of the DFW Metroplex that has experienced some recent growth in population and the airport is expected to have some growth potential with the completion of an extension of Hwy 121.

“It’s going to be interesting.  Cleburne is about the same size airport but has more based airplanes,” stated Bain.  “It’s expected to grown when the new hwy 121 is finished, double in size within the next 5-10 years.”

City Manager Bobby Rountree commented on Bain’s tenure at Brownwood.

“We want to wish Sharlette good luck as she goes to Cleburne,” stated Rountree.  “We appreciate the job she has done here.  We look forward to working with her long distance.”

Bobby Burkes was announced as the interim airport manager while the city searches for a new manager or managing company.

Words of appreciation were given by Bain regarding her time in Brownwood.

“ I want to thank you all.  It’s been very fun working for the City and it’s been interesting dealing with the whole  scheme of things of how government works,” said Bain.  “I have really enjoyed the past 6 years and look forward to doing well in Cleburne.  I know the airport is in great hands and will continue to grow and I hope the BBQs will continue.”

Bain expressed her hopes for the future of the Brownwood Regional Airport.

“I hope I have left a lasting impression and some good goals for this airport.”

Bain’s last day as airport manager in Brownwood will be Wednesday, June 29th.  She will begin her new career in Cleburne on July 5, 2011.
