October 7th was proclaimed National Night Out in Brownwood at a recent Brownwood City Council Meeting.
The event, sponsored by National Association of Town Watch and Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers is a unique nationwide crime, drug and violence prevention program in its 31st year.Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes read the proclamation and explained the event.
“National Night Out provides a unique opportunity for the City of Brownwood to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative, police-community crime prevention efforts, neighborhood safety and awareness,” said Haynes.
The proclamation stated that it is essential for all citizens of the City of Brownwood be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and impact that their participation efforts, neighborhood safety and awareness.
Haynes called upon the people of Brownwood to join the National Association of town Watch and Heart of Texas Crime Stoppers in supporting the 31st Annual National Night Out.
National Night Out is designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. Law enforcement officials are encouraging residents to use the event to not only to get to know their neighbors better, but in some cases, to plant the seeds for a neighborhood watch program.
