Brownwood City Council proclaimed April as Autism Awareness Month at their meeting held Tuesday, April 23rd.

The proclamation outlined that autism is a lifelong disability, resulting in significant impairment of an individual’s ability to communicate, understand social interactions, and develop appropriate interactive behaviors.  It also stated that autism affects not only the diagnosed individual, but their entire family and the community at large.

While there is currently no identified cause or cure for autism, the Center for Life Resources offers hope for recovery through outreach, training and consultation.
