Brownwood City Council unanimously approved donating bricks to the Revitalizing Our Community (ROC) project to enhance the Cecil Holman Park in Brownwood during Tuesday’s regular meeting of the council.

According to city officials, approximately 200 paver bricks which had originally been used for the roadway under the Vine Street underpass and continuing up toward the grain silos were taken up around 2001 to make a smoother traveling road surface.  These bricks were declared surplus property Tuesday and donated to the ROC project to make a memorial walkway.

Officials stated that the bricks were tested to make sure they were of the quality that they could be engraved for the memorial walkway.

A fundraiser for the revitalization of the park was scheduled for this past Saturday, but was cancelled due to rainfall.  The fundraiser will be rescheduled in the near future.
