CityofBrownwoodlogo_smallThe City of Brownwood continues its collection of brush and bulky items, at no charge, to Brownwood residential customers.

Residential (noncommercial customers) may call 643-4200 to request the service during normal business hours. After hours, customers may leave a message.  A link has been posted to the Sanitation Department’s web page to allow residents to request service online.   ci.brownwood.tx.us/sanitation.htm

The following rules apply:

 

  1. Items must be left at the curb or place in the alley if trash is collected from the alley.
  2. City employees are not permitted to go on private property to collect these items.
  3. Items to be collected must be segregated according to type; brush, furniture or metals.  Mixed piles will not be collected.
  4. This service is not available to: commercial customers, apartments, schools, churches, evictions, or storage units.
  5. Waste shall be stacked away from mail boxes, fences, poles, cars and low hanging wires.

-Brush and tree limbs (contractors are required to haul their own trimmings to the recycling center – cut into 5’ lengths or less, no stumps or root balls and not missed with dirt or any other waste)*
-Couches (love seats)

-Dish Washers
-Desks
-Dressers
-Entertainment Centers
-Freezers (must be free of food)
-Grills*
-Hampers
-Lawn mowers*
-Metal swing sets (must be disassembled and concrete removed from posts)*
-Moving boxes (cardboard if clean may be recycled)*

-Refrigerators (must be free of food)*

Items Not Collected by the City of Brownwood

-Anything with a title of ownership (automobile chassis, motorcycles, trailers, boats, etc)
-Any waste that is banned for disposal in a Type 1 landfill
-Automobile Batteries*
-Concrete
-Construction and remodeling debris (includes carpet, plywood, bricks, rocks, aggregate, cinder block, stone, mortar, sand, sheet rock, insulation, flooring, shingles, siding, steel roofing, glass mirrors, lumber)
-Hazardous materials (paints, solvents, etc)
-Tires (of any kind)*
-Land Clearing Debris*
-Liquids (of any kind)

Not all waste or recyclables are accepted at the landfill and recycling center.  Please call the landfill at 646-6574 and the recycling center at 641-8832 for information on prohibited items.
