Sharlette Bain, manager of the Brownwood Regional Airport, will serve her last day on June 29th due to personal and professional opportunities that have come her way.
Bain will be leaving Brownwood to be the manager of the Cleburne Regional Airport in Cleburne, Texas. According to Brownwood city manager Bobby Rountree, he knew Bain had been looking for something in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex for about a year due to becoming engaged and wanting to be near her fiancée. She submitted her resignation on June 7, 2011.
“Sharlette has done a great job,” stated Rountree. “It is certainly Cleburne’s gain. It’s great for her both professionally and personally.”
Rountree also stated that he is excited for Bain to further her career.
“You always like to see the younger employees advance in their careers and this is a step that will definitely help her career,” said Rountree.
The position of airport manager was posted to the City of Brownwood’s website this week and will close on July 21st. According to Rountree, it is hoped that interviews will begin the week of July 25th in order to have a recommendation for the position to be presented to the City Council by either the last council meeting in August or the first meeting of September.
Rountree stated that he will be visiting with a private airport management company in the near future to also consider the possibility and advantages of privatization of Brownwood Regional Airport.
“The timing of being without an airport manager and the situation of the economy makes it an appropriate time to explore the option of privatization,” said Rountree.
Rountree stated that individual applications will be reviewed at the same time the consideration of a private company is reviewed.
