Brownwood News – The City of Early invites the community to join them for the dedication of McDonald Park and the Unveiling of the Memorial Park Benches on Monday, November 27th, at 4 p.m. Mayor Robert Mangrum will give the welcome, a project overview will be given by Tony Aaron, and the invocation will be given by Pastor Eddie Ailshie.
Special Recognition will be given to the following:
- Day Stone – Gerry & Lean Day – Donation of Landscaping Rocks
- George Sikes & Michael Sikes – Donation of Trees
- TR Havens Unit & Warden Adam Gonzales – Hard Work & Time
- City of Early Parks & Rec Dept. – Hard Work & Time
- City of Early Beautification Commission – Holiday Flag Pole Decorations
Attendees will walk South around the track and each memorial bench will be unveiled with each family, donor, or class telling a brief story about their bench. Order of reveal: Chris Dutton, Dewit & Bobby Allen, Jim Byars/Danny Dutton, Darrel Gosnell, Clint Connlley, Mike Roberts, Sgt Karl Keese, Jarry Faltys, Jeff Milhollon, L.W. & Dolly Richmond, Angie Zoltak and Early High School Classes 1979-1983.
Coordinators will end with special recognition of the Mural that the Texas Midwest Community Network Teen Leadership Team from Early High School constructed with their Business Mentor Gene Russell.
Later that same night, The City of Early Beautification Commission invites the community to join them for a fun and festive evening as they light up Early with the lighting of the Christmas tree. The festivities will be on Monday, November 27th, at the intersection of Early Blvd and Garmon Drive.
There will be performances starting at 6:30 p.m. by:
- Early Primary and Elementary School Choirs
- High School Bands
Hot chocolate and cookies provided by United Supermarkets and served by the U-Crew from United. Santa Clause will be brought in by the Early Volunteer Fire Department. New this year will be an area for Santa to sit and pose for pictures. Special Thanks to Cullen’s Hometown Market for decorations for Santa’s picture.
Parking for the event will be in the First Baptist Church parking Lot, access will be off of Lucas St. from the west and Garmon Dr from the East.
All of this is made possible by the $1 donation that Early resident’s pay on their monthly water bill each month.
Guest attending the Christmas Tree Lighting are encouraged to take pictures and use the hash tag #visitearlyvisitoften when posting on social media.
Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to Two Stepping For Toys. There will be drop of boxes at both events.
