The City of Brownwood officially set their elections for 2010, and one long-time Councilman announced that he will not seek re-election.
“For over 30 years it has been my privilege to serve on this council,” Haynes said at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. “In May, I will not be a candidate for this position.”
Haynes’ seat for Councilman Ward 1 will be up for grabs in the upcoming municipal elections. Councilman Ward 4 currently held by Dave Fair will also be on the ballot as well as the position of Mayor currently held by Bert Massey. Fair and Massey have not yet made announcements regarding their intentions to run.
City Election Day is set for May 8, 2010 at the Adams Street Community Center located at 511 E. Adams St with the polls open from 7am to 7pm.
Early voting in the city elections will be conducted at the Adams Street Community Center on April 26-30 from 8am to 5pm and May 3-4 between the hours of 7am to 7pm.
