Calvin Fryar, Chairman of the board of directors of Citizens National Bank has announced the following promotions at Citizens National Bank by its board of directors. John P. Guest, President of Citizens National Bank will also serve as Chief Executive Officer for the Bank. Bobby W. Boatright has been elevated to Executive Vice President in charge of the lending function.
Guest is a 1979 graduate of Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business, a 1975 graduate of Abilene High School, and a 1990 graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU. He came to Citizens in 1982 after working for the Farmers Home Administration as an Emergency Loan Supervisor. Calvin Fryar said that Guest’s 35 years of lending experience is a valuable asset to the bank as well as its customers. “He is well qualified to lead the excellent staff of Citizens National Bank.”
Active in various civic organizations, Guest is on the Board of Directors of the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce. Active in the Pecan Valley Kiwanis Club, he also serves on the board of the Zephyr Water Supply Corporation and has been active in the Brown County Fair Association as a board member and holding various offices through the years.
He is married to Jan May Guest a recently retired teacher at Early High School. They have a daughter Jacey who is a senior at Early High School and is the current reigning Brown County Youth Fair Queen.Guest said, “I feel fortunate to have spent the last 32 years learning from Darwin Boscamp and the great community leaders that make up our board of directors. I look forward to the opportunity to lead the Citizens National Bank into the future. The bank has served the Brown County area for the last 100 years and my goal is to continue that growth as the area’s only home owned community bank.
John Guest takes the reins to the bank from Darwin Boscamp who has been with Citizens since 1980 and CEO since 1995. During his time at Citizens the bank has grown from $31,000,000 in assets to almost $200,000,000. Calvin Fryar said “The Board appreciates Boscamp’s dedicated service to Citizens National Bank and the Brownwood area. We are looking forward to his continued involvement in the bank for years to come.”
Boatright, who has 32 years’ experience in various areas of banking, is a 1989 graduate of Howard Payne University, a 1976 graduate of Coleman High School and a 1997 graduate of Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU. Calvin Fryar said that he was pleased that Citizens was able to promote from within the bank such a qualified banker with the experience that Bob Boatright brings to the bank.
Bob Boatright has been active in the community having served as President of the Brownwood area Chamber of Commerce and the boards of the Brownwood Country Club and Brown County Fair Association. He and his wife Dena have 2 daughters Denea Boatright and Paige McClellen both living in the Fort Worth – Dallas area.
Citizens National Bank is Brownwood’s only home owned independent bank. Citizens’ roots go all the way back to the late 1800s to the mercantile store, “Coggin Brothers and Ford” and later evolving into the Citizens National Bank.
