Organizers assembled today on Main St. near the Bank of America Building to participate in a “Recess Rally” in Brownwood. This was part of a nationwide effort supported by the core groups behind the Tax Day Tea Party that was held this past April 15th.
Those who attended today’s rally held up protests signs showing their opinion towards the current health care legislation that Washington is proposing. Those at the rally said that they are concerned about government spending and the role of a big government in their lives.
When asked if there was a specific local group organizing today’s event, one participant said, “We are just some concerned citizens expressing our opinion.”
The rally urged those who agreed to stop by and sign a petition asking government officials to “restrain growth of government power, stop nationalizing private businesses, reverse excess growth of national debt and preserve the value of the currency”.
