Funeral Services for Christopher Jim Bradford, age 63, of Brownwood, will be held Friday May 06, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brown County with Gerald Stocksdale and Ted Kell officiating, interment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. He passed away Wednesday May 04, 2011 in San Angelo, Texas. Christopher was born on May 27, 1947 in Jacksonville, Texas to Odell and Phyllis (Lamden) Bradford.
He married Joye Bradford on June 10, 2000 in Brownwood, Texas; he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and of the Viet Nam conflict. He was in the newspaper business most of his life (1959-2007) beginning as a street hawker in Midland, Texas in 1959 and after working at several Texas newspapers he retired in 2007 after owning three weekly newspapers along with his lovely wife, Joye.
Survivors include his wife, Joye, a son James and wife, Karen of Las Vegas, NV., a son, Michael of Alpine TX, a sister, Marlene and husband, Doug of Dimmit, TX. Two step-sons; Tim Perkins and wife Susan of Evant TX, Shane Perkins and wife Jana of Farwell TX, a step-daughter, Jennifer Perkins of Brownwood. 17 grandchildren; Taylor and Tyler Bradford of Alpine, Zachary, Jordon, Shelby and Ashlee Bradford of Las Vegas, NV. Jace, Slade and Aidan Perkins of Farwell and San Antonio, Davalynn, Hadley and Bryson Munroe of Brownwood; Jody and Meredith Coffman of Granbury, Wesley and Ashley Scruggs of Fort Wort, and Audray Coffman of Stephenville. Five great-grandchildren Averie, Jace, Jacob, Madison and Ashlynn. Also, Mary Mcilroy; mother of his sons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made of Cherokee Children’s Home, Cherokee Texas.
