Chris Anthony Boyd, age 62, of Blanket, died Friday, June 2, 2017 after a short illness. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 5, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00 at the funeral home.
Chris was born in Brownwood on August 14, 1954. He was adopted and raised by his maternal grandparents, James and Zelma Boyd. He graduated from Early High School in 1972. Chris excelled in sports while attending Early High School and was voted All-District in football his junior and senior years. He also attended Boys State in 1971. He married Denise James on April 30, 1977 in Brownwood. He had worked for Kohler Company for the last 30 years. He learned early the values of hard work, strength of character and integrity.
Chris was an avid hunter and fisherman. One of his favorite pastimes was attending local football games with his son and buddies, Scotty Hibler, Jimmy Escamilla and Paul Sanchez. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blanket.
Survivors include his wife, Denise of Blanket, son Sam Boyd of Blanket, daughter Jordon Boyd of Brownwood; three grandchildren: Riley Boyd of Zephyr, Bella and Hutson Boyd of Brownwood, and his faithful little dog, ChiChi Rodriguez.
