Rhonda Durkop and Victoria Collom, Chief Administrative Clerks of the Brown County Justice Courts, have joined an elite group of Justice Court Clerks for the entire State of Texas. They have been awarded a “Masters” rating after successfully passing the State administered examination for competency in both law and administration of Justice Courts within the State. The examination calls for a demonstration of knowledge and proficiency in both Civil and Criminal laws of the State, as well as the over-all administration of the Justice Court system.

There are 830 Justice Courts within the State and an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 clerks working within the system.

Of these, only 77 have been successful in attaining the Masters rating in the entire State. During the most recent State-wide examination on February 29th, only 9 passed the test, including our two Chief Administrative Clerks.

These ladies were responsible for overseeing the four Brown County Justice Courts which handled over 4,500 cases last year and over $611,000 in revenues for the county and the State. Over the past five years, they have processed over 23,000 cases and been responsible for $3.3 million in revenues.
