CherylJonesCheryl Jones formally announced her intent to file as a candidate in the Republican primary for the office of Brown County District Clerk. Jones has served for the past four years as the Assistant Court Coordinator for the 35th Judicial District Court of Texas. The district includes Brown and Mills Counties.

After learning that Brown County District Clerk Jan Brown was not seeking re-election, Jones decided to announce her candidacy. She stated: “I have enjoyed working with Jan Brown and the rest of her staff. After talking with her and others about Jan’s decision to retire, I decided I would run for the office of District Clerk. I believe I have the maturity, experience, and integrity to best lead this office into the future.  Quality, honest, friendly public service has been the hallmark of the Brown County District Clerk’s Office under Jan’s tenure.   If elected, I will continue that tradition with a focus on implementing the Texas Supreme Court mandated e-filing in civil cases by January 1, 2016.  I ask for your support and your vote on March 4, 2014 in the Republican Primary.”

Prior to her current position as Assistant Coordinator for the District Court, for five years Cheryl worked as a legal assistant to Darrell and Stephen Haynes at Haynes Law Firm, P.C.
