Cheryl Ann Nelson, age 56, of Bangs died Friday night at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Barnum officiating. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
She was born April 1, 1957 in Levelland, Texas the daughter of Jerry and Billie May Reed. She had been a resident of Brown County for the past 53 years. She married Bobby Nelson on June 29, 1986 in San Angelo. She had served as Brown County Tax Assessor/Collector for the past several years having been appointed to complete a term, then elected to the office. She had previously served on the Brown County Child Welfare Board, and was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She had a strong love of animals of all kinds and a passionate love of art. She loved to participate in Chili Cookoffs and attended the Ladies State Chili Cookoff for 25 years straight. She will be remembered for her smile and personality to those she met.She is survived by her husband, Bobby Nelson of Bangs
