Charles Eugene McDonald of Bangs, Texas passed away Dec. 19, 2011. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Bangs at 1:30pm. The family will receive friends and guests in the church gym following the memorial service. Charles’ last day of work was Dec. 16, 2011. Charles was born in Canyon, Texas to Bryan Eugene McDonald and Mary Pickett Davidson McDonald on Feb. 21, 1927. He married Chatter (Edna Gail) Chapman July 5, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Chatter, their son; Charles, Jr., and his siblings Dick Lee, Billy Joe, and Pam (Patricia Ann) Thompson.
He is survived by his brother; Donald Bryan McDonald and family members Nina McDonald, Mary Gail and Walter Conner, Brenna Kay, Cling Maegan and Sean Watson, Natalie, Skye, and Phoebe Overby, Quentin, Debbie, Chris, Brooke, and Sarah Conner, Marady and Conner Hill; Karen McDonald-Bowman, Nate Bowman, Charles McDonald III and Bethany Bowman, Monroe Wendy, Becca and Wesley McDonald, Sean and Coetta McDonald, Chandra and Josh Chavez; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Charles graduated from Ozona High School, 1943; Attended Georgetown University while working as a mail clerk for the U.S. Congress; received his B.S. in Elementary Education from West Texas Teachers College, Canyon, Texas, 1948; J.D. from University of Texas School of Law, 1953; admitted to the bar of Texas, 1953. He was also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit; U.S. District Court, Northern and Western Districts of Texas.
Charles was a coach at Idalou, Texas High School, 1948-1949; 5th grade teacher in Midland, Texas, 1949-1950, began practicing law in Midland, Texas, 1953. He also practiced in Alpine and has practiced in Bangs, Texas since 1967.
Charles was a member of the Midland Jaycees and Bangs Lions Club. He sang in the choir of all of the churches he attended. He was a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.
