Charles Lee Bilbrey was born on April 24, 1939, in Brownwood to Virgil Lee Bilbrey and Loney Marie McAlister Bilbrey. He was raised by his loving Aunt and Uncle, Sally and Monroe Bilbrey, and on May 31, 1957, he married the love of his life, Frieda Joyce Willborn. Together, they made their home in Brownwood where he had worked as a brick mason until retiring.
Charles was a staunch advocate for the Buckner Boys Ranch in Burnett Texas and was the backbone of his family. He loved fishing and camping in his spare time, but what he loved most, was being with family and friends. Charles, unlike most men, also loved Christmas and looked forward to it each and every year with great anticipation. He was truly one of a kind, and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of over 57 years, Frieda Bilbrey; one son, James “Red” Bilbrey; one daughter, Jana Charlene Bilbrey Quick; and four grandchildren, James Virgil “Jamie” Bilbrey, John Robert Quick, Amber Dawn Quick and Chandra Jayne Hinshaw Bilbrey. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Loney Marie Bilbrey; a son, Brian Kelly Bilbrey; two brothers, Jimmy Leo Bilbrey and J.L. Bilbrey Houston; one sister, Jerrie June Bilbrey Chism; grandparents, Charlie and Minnie Bilbrey; and his adopted parents, Monroe and Sallie Bilbrey.
