He was born Charles James Barnes on February 21, 1935 in Cross Cut, Brown County, Texas, the only son of J. T. Barnes and Gladys Wyatt Barnes. He grew up in Coleman and attended school here. He also was the operations manager for the Eastern Hemisphere and became the Product Line Operations Manager for Lindsey Liners. In 1998 he finally retired and moved with Nancy to Cross Plains. Although he was not a member of Lake Brownwood First Baptist Church, he attended there and helped to lead others to know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
