Graveside services for Charles E. “Chuck” Gressett, of Early will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Eastlawn Memorial Park. His grandsons and great grandsons will proudly serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 7:30 PM Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Mr. Gressett passed away April 23, 2015 at his home.
Chuck was born November 19, 1925 in Westbrook, Texas to David C. and Lucy (Widner) Gressett. On January 14, 1949, he married Alphene Page, and they shared 66 years together. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he was employed with the International of Operating Union Engineers (AFLCIO) for many years as a union representative. He was an endowed Master Mason with the Staked Plains #598 in Big Spring, Texas, an endowed member of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Lubbock, Texas, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Brownwood Chapter #116 in Brownwood, Texas. Chuck was known to his family as PawPaw. Our PawPaw loved to watch six-man football, golf on TV, go fishing and loved to see his great grandchildren playing on the farm.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife Alphene and children Mike Gressett and wife, Margaret, Cindy Rogers, and Debbie Hiddemen and husband Bill; grandchildren Jami Ryan, Mary Gressett, Christi Hestand, Michael Anderson, Tonya Gressett, Ty Trim, Charles Don Gressett, John Gressett, Andrea Gressett; great grandchildren Kaitlyn Dorsett, Logan Gressett, Drake Gressett, Haden Hestand, Brock Hestand, Dylan Trim and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Alph and Eunice Page; sister Dorothy Fay Hodnett and one niece.
