A celebration of the life of Charles D. Thomas, age 81, of Lake Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Thomas passed from this life on Friday, September 8, 2017 in Abilene Regional Medical Center.
Charles Dee Thomas was born on September 1, 1936 in Ropesville to George C. and Jessie V. (Whitten) Thomas. He was a graduate of Ropesville High School and married Katherine Ivy on April 8, 1955. Charles farmed in the Ropesville area up until 1974, when he and Katherine moved to Lake Brownwood when he accepted the position of maintenance director at the Texas 4-H Center. In 1981, Charles started Frost Air in Brownwood. Charles enjoyed spending time with family of which he loved with all his heart. He also enjoyed fishing, especially on the Texas coast, and riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. He also loved to travel with Katherine in their motorhome. In the last few years, Charles enjoyed being on Facebook and getting to connect and share posts with friends. He also enjoyed watching YouTube videos and discovering new music.
Charles is survived by his three children, David Thomas of Brownwood, Curtis Thomas and wife Gail of May and Cathy Summers and husband Eric of Brownwood; three grandchildren, Shawna Lange and husband James of Rosharon, Matthew Summers of Austin and Julianne Thomas of Brownwood, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Bobbie Thomas Simpson of Jacksonville and his beloved dogs, Gomie and Lucy and his cat Gemo.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Katherine Ivy Thomas, a grandson, Dave Thomas, his parents; three brothers, Kenneth, Mansfield and J.V. Thomas and a sister, Lorene Chesney.
