Charles (C.M.) Gamblin, of Waco formerly Brownwood, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019.  Mr. Gamblin was born January 11, 1929 in Brady, Texas.  He graduated from Early High School in 1947 then married his high school sweetheart, Shirley McCoy Gamblin on August 28, 1948 and  remained married for 66 years until her death in 2014.  Mr. Gamblin retired after 42 years from GTE in 1990.  He was known as Mr. Fix It, one of those who could fix or build anything.  His hobbies included amateur radio operator, woodworking, electronics and restoring vintage cars.  Mr. Gamblin was also a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood.

Mr. Gamblin was preceded in death by his parents, Finis and Irma Gamblin, wife Shirley, brother Jackie and nephew, Lonnie Gamblin.

Survivors include daughters Karen Gamblin Akins and husband Wynn and Leann Gamblin Newton and husband Russ.  He also had five grandchildren, Amy Akins Lewis and husband Jon, Alyssa Akins Briggs and husband Jeff, Abby, Alex and Erin Newton along with three great grandchildren, Darby, Brady and Cooper Briggs; his brother Billy Gamblin and wife Peggy as well as nephews Ricky and William Gamblin and niece Bunny Gamblin Keeney.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Friday, June 21, 2019 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. Reverend Art Woodcox will be officiating.  The family requests that any monetary gifts would be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood.  The family would also like to thank the staff at Wesley Wood Care Center in Waco for their tender-hearted care and kindness to Mr. Gamblin.
