TeacherWelcome2010About thirty new teachers, coaches, counselors, and professional staff gathered on Friday morning, August 13, for New Teacher Orientation.  The room was filled with the smell of pancakes and sausage and the sound of introductions and summer recollections.  Thanks to the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, the new BISD staff was treated to a wonderful breakfast and a variety of gifts from local businesses.

Welcoming remarks were made by Superintendent, Dr. Reece Blincoe, Assistant Superintendent, Liesa Land, and Chamber CEO, Laura Terhune.

“There is no more important thing to economic development than good schools,” said Terhune.  She went on to describe the many ways the school district partners with the community, such as the Workforce-Education Committee and the Public Relations Committee.

“We pledge ourselves to work with our community, and they give back to us,” said Blincoe.

Blincoe then went on to list the reasons why BISD is a great school district including technology initiatives, great administrators, top notch fine arts programs, winning athletic programs, and the BISD Board of Trustees.

Finally, Blincoe encouraged the new teachers to “do what’s best for our kids, families and our community.”
