AndersonsCentral Texas Gospel Sing and First Baptist Church of Bangs continue their 15th year of presenting Southern gospel music to Central Texas on Saturday, October 25th. The concert will be at First Baptist Church of Bangs and will begin at 6:00 PM. Admission is free with a love offering taken.

Featured for this concert will be The Anderson Family from Brownwood. Mike and Karen Anderson with their son Austin have been in full time ministry for 17 years. They present the gospel in a beautiful blend of family harmony. Austin is a member of a group at Jacksonville College who will also be featured.

Other local gospel artist will include Pure Grace, In His Name, Leesa Stephens and Stacy Walker, and Roy Jones.

Sunday, October 12

*2:50 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of Elizabeth Drive regarding an assault with injury. According to the report, a 13-year-old was arguing with a 5-year-old and twisted the young child’s broken arm.

Wednesday, October 15

*7:37 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy witnessed a suspect park his car on the front yard of a residence on Avenue K. According to the report, the deputy knew that the driver, identified as Jerry Contreras, Jr. had a suspended driver’s license, so he initiated a traffic stop. Contreras was arrested for driving while license invalid and for an out of county warrant. Brittany Rachelle Haynes was also in the truck at the time of the stop, the report states. Officers were denied a consent search on the vehicle and the K9 unit was called in and made a positive alert on the vehicle, according to the deputy’s report. A total of approximately 0.4 grams of methamphetamine without packaging, and approximately 1.3 grams of marijuana without packaging were discovered inside the bed and cab of the truck where both Contreras and Haynes had access to. Three identifying cards and a payment check which did not belong to either occupant of the truck were found in the bed of the truck, according to the report. Additional drugs were found on Haynes’ person at the jail. Contreras and Hanes were each charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces in a drug free zone and security withdrawals. Haynes was additionally charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug. Contreras was also charged with fraudulent use/possession of identifying information.

*8:15 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Coggin Avenue regarding theft. According to the report, a bicycle was stolen off of the complainant’s front porch sometime during the night. A possible suspect was named, the report states.

*11:00 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Main Street regarding the burglary of a habitation. According to the report, a flat screen television had been stolen from the residence.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Frederick Aaron Axt of May for a parole violation and a surety withdrawal related to driving while intoxicated.

*Brownwood Police arrested 36-year-old Jennifer Ann Crawford of Santa Anna for possession of a dangerous drug, two counts of possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3 less than 28 grams and on three surety withdrawals related to burglary of a habitation, theft equal or greater than $50 less than $500 and burglary of a vehicle.

*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 41-year-old Lyraa Ann Klaus of Brownwood on two warrants related to open storage.

*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 24-year-old Paul Eli Snyder of Brownwood on warrants related to expired registration and failure to appear.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42-year-old Nicholas Thornburg of mesquite on a warrant related to a surety withdrawal related to theft of property greater than $500 less than $1500.
