The Center for Life Resources held a reception and ceremony on Thursday to add three to the center’s Wall of Honor.   Patti Jordan and Don & Shirley Ramsey were given the honor during the event for their years of service to Center for Life Resources.

Patti Jordan, daughter of Ferris and Janie Clements, was a dedicated member of the Center for Life Resources Board of Directors with nearly a decade of service before her resignation in August of 1999.

Jordan began a career in education after graduation from the University of Texas in 1967.  She began working with children in speech therapy and special education and the majority of her teaching career was in elementary classrooms.  She led many projects, one of which was with a group of students who worked to reopen the Brown County Museum of History.  Jordan taught for 40 years and retired in 2007.

Jordan is an active member of the First United Methodist Church and Greenleaf Cemetery Association. She was honored as a Woman of Distinction in 2008 by the Girl Scouts of Central Texas.  She serves on the board of the Lyric Performing Arts Company, which provides entertainment of dramas, musicals and workshops for the community as well as children’s theater camp.  Jordan has also worked diligently in the fundraising to restore and renovate the Lyric Theatre in downtown Brownwood.

Jordan became executor of the Buddy Clements Memorial Fund after her  brother, Buddy Clements’ death.  Through this fund, she ensures the financial means are available for individuals with disabilities to participate in Special Olympic activities and social opportunities within the community. She also serves as executor for the Yrma Cleveland Jones Trust which was established to ensure the medical needs of Brown County children and individuals with disabilities are met when resources are limited.

One of Jordan’s treasured relationships, she said, is that with her brother, John Clements. She has committed her endeavors to ensure John’s needs are met within a community of his peers. She is an active member of the Brown County ARC.

Patti and her husband, Tom, are moving to Round Rock, but she states she will visit Brownwood and her brother often.

Don Ramsey began his employment with Center for Life Resources on July 1, 1991, as the director of OBRA where he served as case manager. In August 1993, he was named the director of quality assurance and served in this role until he left the center in August 2009. During his tenure as director of QA, he served as rights protection officer, penned the Local Plan and developed the Planning and Network Advisory Committee. Another achievement was the creation of the Janie Clements Foundation Board. He continues his involvement with this board after retirement from CFLR. He published a book, “Horse Sense 101,” in 2005.

Shirley Ramsey began her employment with CFLR on July 24, 1991, as the secretary for Case Management Services. In September 1998 she joined the human resource team where she was a mentor to all program managers.  She retired as human resource director on Feb. 6, 2009.
