The Revitalizing Our Community group (ROC), invites the public to participate in the 2014 celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 20th in Brownwood.
The celebration will kick off with a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day march, which will begin at the Bennie Houston Recreation Center at 10:00 a.m. with lineup beginning at 9:30 a.m. Participants will march from there to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza at the corner of W. Austin and W. Commerce where a ceremony will take place with speakers and music.
“We invite everyone to come out, we welcome everybody,” said Brownwood City Councilman Draco Miller. “It’s going to be a great day.”
Participants of the march are encouraged to bring banners and signs representative of their school, organization or city department.
Last year, over 200 people participated in the march and ceremony.
