Cecil King was born May 29, 1919 in Vaughn, New Mexico to Albert Nathan and Inez Gertrude Munselle King. He passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Brownwood at the age of 95, with his loving family by his side. On, October 13, 1951 he married Sue Holmes in Brownwood, Texas. Cecil retired after 35 years of service from American General Life Insurance Company and then began working at Heartland Funeral Home as a greeter for many years.
Cecil was gifted with many talents. But, one of the most important was his loveof music.Cecil had a deep seeded love of music and was very talented in playing the piano. He shared this when and where ever needed. He played the piano at Southside Assembly of God Church in Brownwood for over 50 years and was a member of the Leonard King Orchestra for 20 years. It is going to be odd move into the future without Cecil by our side. If we find comfort in his passing, it’s to believe that he is free from pain he knew here on earth and is reunited with those who have gone ahead. Most especially, it is to know that although Cecil has been gone just a short time, that he has already earned his wings…and they are golden. Rest well, Cecil, you were one in a million.Cecil is survived by his wife of 63 years Sue King of Brownwood; four daughters and one son; Celia and Susan King of Arlington, Jerald and Judy King of Amarillo, Linda and Chick Eoff of Owens, Beverly and Danny Slone of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Also, by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ed, Bill, J.D. Rodger and Roy Kingand sisters Nancy Garms and Lucille Herring.
