Cecil Darwin Bostick, died peacefully at his Rising Star, Texas home on December 24, 2015. A veteran of the Korean War, he was 81.
Darwin was born on January 18, 1934 in Romney, Texas to Ira Cecil Bostick and Edith Mary Gregg Bostick. In November of 1951, he joined the army and was commissioned as a Corporal. While serving in Korea, he was awarded a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, Presidential Service Medal, South Korea Service Medal, Combat Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. After being wounded in the war he was discharged with full honors in 1953.
Darwin then enjoyed a 32 year career as a Petroleum Engineer in the oilfields of Texas and most of the World for Halliburton Services. His position as a Critical Event Specialist placed him on every Continent, including a permanent 4 years in Tripoli, Libya in 1969 after the Government was overthrown in a military coup. With the oilfields of the Sahara Desert opening for drilling, Darwin trained the first Libyan national to be certified as an operating engineer for Halliburton in 1971. After retiring from Halliburton (at the time based in Bogota, Columbia) in 1986, he moved to Rising Star, where he married Peggy Elaine White in April of 1996. He was an active member at Pioneer Baptist Church in Pioneer Texas, loved fishing and hunting, and enjoyed watching many sports – mainly High School Football. He was a loyal Cisco Lobo fan, attending most of the football games no matter the distance or weather.Darwin loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his Heart, Soul, and Mind – praise God.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Bostick; sons Lane Bostick and wife Teresa of Georgetown, Texas, Sandie Bostick and wife Paula of Grand Junction Colorado, and Don Bostick of Montgomery Village, Maryland; daughters Brenda Kilgo and husband Chad of May, Texas, and Traci Teplicek and husband Steven of Rising Star, Texas. Ten grandchildren: Britin Bostick, Jarrett Bostick, Colton Bostick, Tate Bostick, Jake Bostick, Kody Bostick, Tristan Teplicek, Alex Teplicek, Hayden Teplicek and Braxton Kilgo; brother Ronnie Bostick of Littleton Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Ira Cecil Bostick, mother Edith Gregg Bostick, brother Kenneth Bostick, brother Terry Don Bostick, brother Robert Kirk Bostick and sister Beverly Bostick Moore.
A viewing will take place at Heartland Funeral home in Early, Texas on Monday, December 28th from 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29th at Heartland Funeral home at 1:30 PM, with burial immediately following at Romney Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Romney Cemetery.
