JarvisCatherine Jarvis of Brownwood, known to family and friends as Cathy or Grandmom Jarvis, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Abilene Regional Hospital. She was 85. Cathy was born July 31, 1928 in Gainesville, Texas to Lisle and Velma Tibbals. Her family moved to Wichita Falls when she was young and she grew up there. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1945 and attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and Midwestern in Wichita Falls.

Cathy married Richard (Dick) Jarvis on December 23, 1947. She worked for Mid Continent Supply Company in Wichita Falls and later in Fort Worth. The family moved to Brownwood in 1967. Catherine worked for Downs-Clark (Clark Engineering) and T.W.T. Moulding in Brownwood before retiring. Cathy and her husband, Dick, enjoyed traveling with and participating in their Airstream group. She served as president of the West Texas Unit of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International in 2006. She loved being around her family and enjoyed her great grandchildren. She will be missed by many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Her surviving family include four children; Karen Gillen of Corpus Christi, Cynthia Ledbetter of Lexington South Carolina, Gary Jarvis of Midland, Richard Jarvis of Brownwood, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Schmoker of Wichita Falls.

A memorial service for Mrs. Jarvis will be held Tuesday, April 29 at 2 p.m. at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early with interment at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
