The first day of school is always interesting to hear about. It’s a time that your child is away from you and experiencing a new part of their life.

It’s been a crazy few months as we worked towards buying our new home. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I have a few new gray hairs that can be attributed to the last couple of months.

I remember years ago, listening to adults talk about how they were not familiar with certain games/technology. I distinctly remember thinking; I would never be that person. Well, I am sad to report that it has happened and I am that person.

We all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her. Gram’s face lit up, her eyes twinkled as we sang and blew on the noisemakers. That’s something that I will treasure.

We tend to make a big deal out of birthdays around our house. I don’t mean that we buy tons of gifts or have huge parties. We just enjoy the weekend before the person’s birthday or we go out of our way to do the small things that make that person happy.

I was scanning through some of my older posts and stumbled across this oldie. This was from July 2015. Kiera would have been 4 at the time of this post. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

For the most part, I can be very level headed. I am calm in emergencies, calm when there is a spider dangling in front of me, and even calm when I have to save my child from a bug.

Kiera tends to have a bit of a flair for the dramatic. Especially when she is over tired. I feel fairly confident that if she ever tries out for theater, she will be amazing.

We took the rare opportunity to get out of town for the night this last weekend for our anniversary. With the help from a couple of new friends, we were able to attend the drag boat races and have a relaxing weekend that we desperately needed.

I’m constantly intrigued by the way Kiera’s mind works. It’s amazing the ideas she comes up with and the things that pop out of her mouth.

Twelve years ago, when we married, neither of us could have prepared for the trials or the amazing joys that life has led us through. I honestly could not ask for a better husband.
