Dress rehearsals began Friday for the Lyric Theatre’s musical production of “The Wizard of Oz” which is set to open next week.

Finishing touches to the set, costumes, makeup and technical aspects of the musical will be worked on over the weekend, according to Nancy Jo Humfeld, Artistic Director for Lyric Performing Arts Company and Director for the musical.

“This is our first dress rehearsal and tomorrow we will be fine tuning all of our technical issues,” Humfeld said Friday evening. “We should be all set to open next week.”

The musical will be presented in two acts with 8 scenes in the first and 12 in the second with stunning costumes and intricate set.

Tickets are now on sale for the “The Wizard of Oz” which is set to open next Thursday for a multi-performance run.

Advanced tickets can currently be purchased online at BrownwoodLyricTheatre.com or at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce located at 600 E. Depot St.  The cost is $15 per ticket and $10 each for student tickets.

Upcoming performance dates include July 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27 at 7:30 PM and July 20, 21, 26, 28 at 2:30 PM at the Dorothy McIntosh Fine Arts Center auditorium at Brownwood High School.
