Brownwood News – CASA in the Heart of Texas will host CASA 101: An Information Session for Potential Volunteers at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 19th, at the Family Services Center, 901 Ave. B in Brownwood.
CASA trains and supports ordinary people from the community to serve as officers of the court to work with and on behalf of abused/neglected children in substitute care from Brown, Mills, and Comanche counties. CASA volunteers get to know the child and everyone involved in the child’s life to advocate for the child’s best interests. CASA volunteers are men as well as women, over 21 years of age, who have a concern and heart for abused/neglected children and would like to impact their future.
Please join us Tuesday as we discuss qualifications, skills needed, training provided, time commitment, and the process of becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children.
The need for quality volunteers has never been more urgent. Children are waiting and deserve their very own CASA to stand with them as they go through this confusing, traumatic time, to be their voice and to fight for them to have a safe, permanent, nurturing home. Please join us and bring a friend. If you can’t help these children one way, perhaps there is another.
Every child deserves a chance — it’s you.
